HELPING ONTARIANS MAKE IMPORTANT DECISIONS
To help patients and their families in Ontario choose the right long-term care home, waitlists and wait times for long-term care homes are publicly posted on CCAC websites. This information is just one part of a complex decision-making process that families and their loved ones go through when considering long-term care home placement.
Long-term care home waitlist and wait time information is intended to be a resource for families. It is not a definitive guide on choosing a home, nor is it information that should be used to assess system performance or overall capacity. Ultimately, choosing the right home for each individual requires careful consideration of many factors, including health status, needs, location and personal preferences. A care coordinator can help determine which options are best for you.
Home care placement is currently facilitated by CCACs. As per the Patients First Act, 2016 this function will be transferred to LHINs in spring 2017. Throughout this transfer, individuals and their families will not experience any disruption or change to how they access long-term care home placement.
